In Loving Memory of Dereon Womack and Le\u2019Onte Tate<\/strong><\/p>\n

A deep sorrow has fallen over Washington following the tragic loss of two young men whose lives were taken far too soon after a devastating triple gunfire in Southeast D.C. The heartbreaking passing of 18-year-old Dereon Womack and 18-year-old Le\u2019Onte Tate have left families shattered, friends grieving, and an entire community searching for healing and answers.<\/p>\n

What began as a violent shooting on the evening of April 11 has now become a double homicide investigation, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Authorities say Seventh District officers responded around 6:29 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 3500 block of 22nd Street SE. When officers arrived, they discovered a horrific scene that no family or neighborhood should ever have to endure.<\/p>\n

Police found one victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a driveway behind the location, another victim shot inside a vehicle, and a third victim wounded near 23rd and Savannah Streets Southeast. Emergency responders from DC Fire and EMS worked urgently to save the victims, but sadly, Dereon Womack was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were transported to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.<\/p>\n

Tragically, on May 9, authorities confirmed that Le\u2019Onte Tate had died from the injuries he sustained in the incident .
