According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the tragic single-vehicle accident occurred around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, near the Cedar Creek community in Richland County. Authorities reported that a 2021 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on Monticello Road/SC-215 near the intersection of Kinsler Road when the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. After the impact, the car left the roadway and collided with several trees.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but despite all efforts, Ja’kari D. Davis of Winnsboro was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger inside the vehicle survived the crash and was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
