According to the Lakeland Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:08 a.m. to a serious traffic crash near 1250 Ariana Street. Investigators reported that a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Justin Hackney, was traveling westbound on Ariana Street when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle drifted into the eastbound lanes before leaving the roadway.

Authorities say the truck continued through the parking lot at 1250 Ariana Street and ultimately collided with a tree off the roadway. The impact prompted a swift emergency response as patrol officers, Polk County Fire Rescue, and the Lakeland Fire Department arrived on scene and immediately began life-saving efforts.

Justin Hackney, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Lakeland Regional Health for emergency medical treatment. Despite every effort made by medical professionals, he was later pronounced deceased.
